Peru: Lima, Iquitos & Surrounding Amazon Communities

Trip Goal & Overview

Join DOCARE volunteers in Peru to provide healthcare, basic needs, and education to indigenous and under-resourced communities in Iquitos and surrounding Amazon communities with compassion and cultural humility.

Partner Organizations

• In-country partner: San Martin de Porres Parish (community healthcare, referrals, and support); Rotary International, Iquitos; and Conapac Peru
• U.S. partner: Power of a Nickel; Rotary International, Sanibel/Captiva; and American School of Barcelona
• Additional collaborators include academic and community partners supporting clinical and translation needs.

Accommodations & Logistics

• Meals: Breakfast included with hotels; lunch included on clinic days; select group dinners included; most dinners on your own.
• In-country transportation: Includes domestic flight (Lima ⇄ Iquitos) and organized transport to clinics and cultural events.
• Note: International airfare is not included.

Cost & Fees

• Full trip (Aug 1–15): $4,300 (single) • $3,475 (double, per person)
• Iquitos-only option (Aug 1–7): $2,600 (single) • $2,300 (double, per person)
• Payment: Instructions provided after acceptance.

Security & Medical Safety

• Daytime travel with local coordination and security presence during Amazon travel and clinics.
• Post-exposure support includes coordination with local medical leadership and assistance activating required medical/evacuation coverage if needed.
