Description

This two-week outreach trip will be to Iquitos, Peru and the nearby Amazon Region seeing both local and indigenous peoples for medical care and services. After serving in the city of Iquitos, the group will travel on the Amazon River to provide care to local tribes and villages. This trip is associated with Michigan State University. If interested but cannot stay the entire time, there is a modified package available, with arrival into Lima Saturday, August 3, overnight at airport hotel (included). Join team morning of Sunday August 4 at Lima airport to begin the Iquitos Clinic. This package will end on Friday, August 9 by return flight to Lima. This allows the full week of Medical Clinic work, and terminates when the team moves to the Amazon.

Cost: $3,069.50 per person (double occupancy); $3,837.50 per person (single occupancy). If interested in the modified package, please contact Dr. Flanders directly for package pricing. Please Note: registration for trips through DOCARE International are free indicated by a $0 registration fee. However, all trip payments are to be paid to their respective trip leader or partner organization.

Cost of Trip Includes

  • 12 nights of accommodations
  • 3-star & 4-star hotels with private bathrooms, air conditioning, and hot water
  • Breakfast and lunch provided daily excluding travel days (i.e., arrival day into Peru and departure day from Peru); 2 dinners in Iquitos, all dinners on the Amazon
  • Domestic transportation
  • Flights from Lima to Iquitos & from Iquitos to Lima
  • Buses & boat transportation
  • English-speaking guides for group excursions

NOTICE OF COSTS NOT INCLUDED

  • International airfare (i.e. United States to Lima & Lima to United States)
  • Airport & international taxation
  • Personal expenses (i.e. shopping, gifts, self-chosen excursions or extensions to travel before or after trip timeframe)
  • Gratuities for transfers, Guides, servers, meals, etc. on travel days
  • Dinners in Lima and dinners in Iquitos not listed above
